Dave Huffman asked:
Maui is home to over 20 golf courses and has been labeled the world’s premier destination for golfing. Many of the golf courses on the island are ranked at the top or close to the top in relation to all of the other courses in the world.
In Maui, you can enjoy numerous professional tournaments, but there is always space for non-professionals on the course. You won’t have any problem getting a tee time for a leisurely game with family and friends.
Maui golf courses are excellent for competing, enjoying a game of golf, or just learning the game and having some fun. Below you will find a list of some of the most popular courses on the island.
The Bay Course
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane, the Bay Course is one of three Championship courses that are owned by Kapalua Resort. The Bay Course is a par 72 course that spans 6,600 yards. Generous, beautiful greens and rolling fairways make this course a pleasure to play. The Bay Course has 68 bunkers, 8 water hazards, and a breathtaking 5th hole that rests along the edge of the Pacific.
The Plantation Course
The Plantation Course is home to the Mercedes Championship, which is the championship that opens the PGA tour season. You will enjoy numerous terrains on this course, from deep valleys to large, expanding greens and fairways. The Plantation Course is a par 73 course that spans 7,411 yards.
Wailea Blue
The Wailea Blue course is located on the lower foothills of the majestic Mt. Haleakala. Designed by Arthur Jack Snyder, this course spans 6,765 yards and offers family rates. You will find serene lakes, coral sand bunkers, and cooling fountains. You will view spectacular scenery of the sparkling ocean and the dramatic volcano in the nearby distance.
Wailea Emerald
The Wailea Emerald course was given a Top Fairways Award as being one of the most golf-friendly courses for women. Additionally, it is considered one of the most fun Maui courses for all players. Spanning 6,825 yards, you will find carpet-like fairways, an abundance of vistas showing off the Ocean and the volcano, and plenty of colorful foliage. For players that like to have a challenge they will be able to tailor the course to their needs with the use of four and six tee boxes.
The Village Course
The Village Course is filled with all the right aspects to provide a breathtaking view and a challenging game. Your game will be graced with hilly terrain, plenty of bunkers, and 4 water hazards. Additionally, you will have breathtakingly scenic views of the Pacific Ocean, Lanai, and Molokai.
Makena North Course
Makena North is located on 1,800 acres of land. Naturally beautiful and unspoiled, this course is perfect for golfing in every way. This 18-hole course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The views of the Pacific are as clear as day. Many people play slowly as they end up watching the whales or looking to the neighboring islands in the distance. The tenth hole offers natural Hawaiian rock walls and there are natural gullies and streambeds throughout the entire course.

Wailea Beach Villas Review - Maui Vacation Rental Info
> Posted by mauiact1blog in Travel12 6th, 2008
Gabe Gayhart asked:
Some discover the Wailea Beach Villas (WBV) through LuxuryLink. The directory for affluent travelers who want to find the most suitable and comforting luxury locations in the world. I discovered the WBV through a friend who owns a condo in Hawaii. Staying at the Maui Escape, a brand new, luxuriously furnished unit in prestigious WBV. Granted what makes the Villas is ultra luxury touch. Being right on Wailea Beach glassy see through waters makes it close to impossible to find yourself lost in thought of the mainland problems. This residential resort, as I was told by locals in Maui, is the best on the island. Nothing does compare, when combining luxury and paradise, in Wailea. Dare I proclaim that this luxury residential resort, located in the heart of Wailea, Maui is the finest in luxury destination resorts?
Located at 3800 Wilea Alanui. The luxurious beach villas on Wailea Beach, are footsteps from The Shops of Wailea . The resort offers discerning travelers the privacy and comfort of spacious floor plans. All accommodations include the comforts of centralized air conditioning , and ceiling fans in every room. Room service - Upon request, staff delivers breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week. A chef is on call for hire. These luxury vacation condos in Maui are the culmination of many years of planning, design and development experience in Hawaii. The villa resort is a planned paradise situated in the very heart of Maui’s sunny southwestern coast .
The Wailea Beach Villas feature spectacular views of the West Maui mountains and the islands of Lanai, Kahoolawe and the Molokini Crater. The Maui Escape, is a for rent by owner villa within the resort. The Maui Escape provides year around accommodations and exhibits the paradise of the resort on their website. It is a two bedroom, two bath condo, with custom bathrooms, custom kitchen with a view of Lanai.
An example, of a larger unit would be The Golden Mandarin, a three bedroom, three and a half bath luxurious upscale residence with creative and opulent East Asian decor. The visitors staying in the “Golden Mandarin” claimed The unit was “spectacular” - 3bedroom/3bath 2nd floor penthouse with gorgeous ocean views. The unit was really spacious and appointed with high-end everything from the granite kitchen with TWO sub-zero refrigerators, bathrooms with glass shower enclosures, sophisticated yet comfortable furnishings, 2 plasma & 2 flat screen TVs.
Even with the two bedroom accommodations of the Maui Escape, it was still very spacious. At least, 2200 square footage of well designed space, which can sleep at least six people.
Luxury does come at a cost but depending on the size of your party it’s not too bad. Compared to it’s neighbor the Grand Wailea, it pencils out to the same amount of money spent. If you have to book three rooms, then the pricing for one unit is close. Adding to that, Wailea Beach Villas has a full kitchen.
Other common gripes are if your property is tucked near the back, it’s a farther walk to the beach. I have heard common feedback from retired over 65 folk that have complained about the trek. Also, if you smoke, this is a non smoking resort. If you do smoke you will want to strategically locate yourself near the parking lot.
Overall, WBV represents the newest and most luxurious oceanfront, residential-resort vacation experience in Maui. Wailea Grand Champions Villas, Makena Surf and Wailea Beach Villas (opened in May 2006). WBV are far and above the most comfortable and most talked about resort of the three. To say you’ll be living in the lap of luxury is an understatement, if you are looking for luxury and comfort in Maui - there is no other residential resort paradise like the WBV, it was designed to be the best and for the affluent traveler’s pleasure.
About Wailea:
Wailea is home to several prominent resort properties including Grand Wailea Resort, Fairmont Kea Lani Maui, Wailea Beach Villas, and the Maui Prince. Poised on Maui’s Wailea Beach amid golden sands and the jewel toned waters of the Pacific Ocean. The population is approx 5,700 people, and home of the Maui Film festival which takes place in June. This Hawaii paradise is considered a premiere Maui honeymoon location, and perfect family or romantic getaway. The town is bursting with aloha radiant energy and the best Maui activities are surrounding the geography.

Maui Travel Tips: Advice to Make Your Trip as Memorable as Possible
> Posted by mauiact1blog in Travel Tips12 6th, 2008
Daryl Moore asked:
Are you dreaming of the perfect tropical Maui vacation but need some travel tips to make your trip as magical as it can be?
It is difficult to find another tropical location that provides the blend of fantastic scenery and activity options that Maui can claim. A visit to this island will change your life (if you allow it to).
This Maui travel tips article will provide some foundational tips for people planning travel to Maui. The information can be especially handy for first time vacationers to the island.
Useful Maui Travel Tips:
Plan Your Budget and Create your Trip Using that Budget as a Guideline - Maui offers a large amount of activities that can be either extremely pricey or rather inexpensive. There are lodging options that range from luxury to modest. Depending when you travel, there are great airfares available. Car rentals on the island run on the inexpensive end compared to other resort locations. It is better to understand your ideal budget and stick to it when planning travel so you don’t experience stress the entire trip. For example, staying at a cheap Maui hotel because you plan to snorkel and hike is a great strategy if you don’t plan to be in your room a lot.
If your goal is to save on your trip, the best option is to investigate Maui vacation packages, which will combine flights, lodging (hotels and condos), and your rental car. Maui vacation package options include five star hotels to cheap hotels (and condos), first class or coach air, and a range of rental cars to economy size to luxury SUVs (like Lincoln Navigators).
Plan for a Good Time of the Year - If you going to Maui as a family, most likely you will travel when school is out. This is usually during summers, holidays, or spring breaks. The link below contains a page on planning for Maui family vacations.
If Maui is a romantic getaway for you, honeymoons included, one tip is to avoid dates when family volume is increased on the island. I have determined that February through May is a good time and September through November is great as well. Travel is less expensive and you will miss many of the high tourism months.
Be Sure to Complete Your Research – It is a great idea to visit sites like this one in order to create a desired list of activities that have appeal to you while visiting the island. There are a range of activities that include going to a luau, trying a snorkeling or dive excursion, or hiking or viewing lava fields and a volcano. Make a “must do” determination before you book travel and then make a commitment to do each. There is something to do in every price range to do on the island.
Do Advanced Preparations if Doing Family Travel – When traveling with family, be it your kids or your extended family, be aware of the considerations you must take into account when traveling this way. Again, the link below will offer a link on the left called “Travel Tips” and will provide a link to a Maui family vacations information.
Also visit the same link for additional Maui travel tips that should be planned for when traveling to the island like weather, safety concerns, clothing to wear, and other information that can be extremely useful while there.

Hawaii Activities: Tours and Adventures
> Posted by mauiact1blog in Destinations12 6th, 2008
Brenda Roman asked:
One of the best things about going to Hawaii, having a Hawaiian wedding or a Hawaiian honeymoon is all of the incredible Hawaii activities available. There’s so much to do, you may have a hard time choosing. No problem. One of the easiest ways is to purchase a tour. You’ll get transportation and all of the info you might miss on your own. Here’s a guide to lead you to all of the fun!
Oahu Activities:
Oahu, home to Honolulu and the famous Waikiki Beach, has something for everyone. There’s all the big city shopping and nightlife that you would expect to find, but Oahu is so much more.
Pearl Harbor is available to tour free. You take a short ferry ride to the site. Get there early to avoid the lines. There are jewelry and clothing stores with what you would hope to see in Hawaii. Pearls and brightly colored tropical clothes. Be sure to stop at Hilo Hatties for some coffee and macadamia nut treats.
The luau’s are some of the best the islands have to offer. The Polynesian Cultural Center offers a glimpse into the polynesian culture and don’t miss the dramatic north shore. This is where you will find the big waves and surfers.
Dole Pineapple offers tours in the middle of the island. Be sure to sample some ice cream. There’s also Cirque Hawaii, Diamond Head Volcano and the Bishop Museum.
Maui Activities:
Maui is an incredibly beautiful island and is becoming on of the most popular to visit. The Haleakala Crater, many beautiful waterfalls and great hiking are all very popular. The Sugar Cane Train between Lahaina town and the resorts of Kaanapali have great views of the West Maui Mountains.
The road to Hana is a great and slow paced ride. There are several luaus to choose from. Snorkeling, diving, parasailing and ziplines are all fun, active sports. Whale watching in the winter is probably what Maui is best known for.
Big Island Activities:
The Big island has a lot to offer. It is the biggest island and offers several different temperature zones. A volcano tour is one of the best reasons to come. You can get close and personal with an active volcano. You can either drive and hike in or take a helicopter tour.
The black sand beaches are something you don’t see every day. Kealakekua Bay, Waipio Valley and Mauna Kea are all incredible sights.
Kauai Activities:
Kauai is a much slower pace but, probably one of the most beautiful islands. It’s known as the Garden Isle for a reason. you can take a spectacular helicopter tour over Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. It’s also an incredible drive into the canyon with it’s twisty roads.
There’s the Wailua River cruise in to see the Fern Grotto or mountain tubing. The Na Pali coastline with it’s steep cliffs is best seen by air or water. You can combine it with a snorkeling trip.
Molokai Activities:
Molokai has Hawaii’s tallest waterfall. You can ride a mule down to Kalaupapa or hike deep into a pristine Hawaiian rainforest.
Lanai Activities:
On Lanai you can pamper yourself, go hiking, surfing or rent an ATV. Lanai is all about the incredible beauty.
The Hawaiian Islands offer activities for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you want your Hawaii activities in the middle of a rainforest or a 5 star resort. You’ll be sure to find an activity (or 20) that will please and excite you. Come, explore and rejuvenate your body and soul.
