Melissa Aldridge asked:

Have you recently become engaged? If you have, you may want to get started with your wedding plans right away. Before you get started, you may want to take the time to examine destination weddings, namely Maui weddings. These types of destination weddings are rapidly increasing in popularity and Maui may be the perfect destination for you.

As with any wedding choice that you will make, you will find that there are a number of pros and cons to having a destination wedding in Maui. Before automatically deciding that a Maui wedding is right or wrong for you, you will want to take the time to examine some the many pros and cons to having one. A few of the most influential plus sides and downsides to destination Maui weddings are outlined below for your convenience.

As for the pros or plus sides to having a destination Maui wedding, you will find that there are an unlimited number of them. For starters, weddings in Maui are often picture perfect. This is due in part to the beauty of the land. Whether you decide to wed in a Maui church or along the coast, you will have a beautiful backdrop. This picture perfect scenery will not only help to create great wedding pictures, but it will also help to make your wedding more memorable, not only for you, but for your guests as well.

Another one of the many pros or plus sides to having a destination Maui wedding is the fact that your wedding and honeymoon can be combined. Although many interpret the cost of destination weddings to be quite high, you can actually save yourself a considerable amount of money in the long run, with destination weddings. For example, many Maui vacation resorts offer wedding packages, enabling you to get married right onsite. On the other hand, if you book a stay at a private vacation rental, like a Maui villa, you may be able to have your wedding right onsite. These two options are just a few of the many ways that you can save money with a destination wedding.

Although there are a number of reasons why you should have a destination wedding in Maui, you will also find a number of cons or downsides to doing so as well. One of the biggest concerns of brides and grooms to be is guest attendance. Many believe that a large number of their hopefully wedding guests would be unable to attend a destination wedding. While this will likely be true with some of your guests, you may be surprised how many would be willing to make the journey to Maui.

Many wedding guests actually prefer destination weddings. You may find that many of your guests look at your destination wedding as an opportunity to have the vacation of their dreams. The only thing is cost. That is why you will want to preplan a destination Maui wedding well in advance and inform your guests of your destination early on. This will give many of your guests the opportunity to save money, to afford the cost of travel, as well as overnight accommodations for your destination wedding.

Another one of the downsides, as previously stated, is the cost of a destination Maui wedding. Depending on where you reside, it could be costly for you to travel to Maui, let alone book a Maui vacation rental or a venue for your wedding. Unfortunately, the cost of a destination wedding automatically makes brides and grooms look at closer alternatives. As previously stated, there are a number of steps that you can take to minimize the cost of a destination Maui wedding, while still having the wedding of your dreams. One of those options includes booking a stay at a private Maui villa and having your wedding there.

The above mentioned pros and cons are just a few of the many that you will find associated with destination weddings. Even if you are unsure if a destination Maui wedding is right for you, you may still want to take the time to give it a look. If you are like many other brides or grooms to be, there is a good chance that you will like what you see.

Andy Felke asked:

Are you interested in vacationing in Maui? Whether you are interested in taking a family vacation, a romantic getaway, or your honeymoon, you may want to take the time to examine Maui villas. There are a number of benefits to renting a villa for your next Maui vacation.

If and when you make the decision to rent a Maui villa, there are a number of important decisions that you will have to make. For starters, it important to know that Maui villas come in a number of different formats. For instance, they are located all across the Maui Island and they come in a number of different sizes, shapes, and styles. Although taking the time to examine multiple Maui villas may seem time consuming, it can help to ensure that you have the vacation of your dreams.

Before choosing which Maui vacation villa you would like to rent, it is first advised that you find an individual or company to do business with. The good news is that this is easy with the internet. There are a number of websites that are designed to connect vacationers, like you, with vacation rentals. In fact, a number of websites deal specifically with Hawaii vacations and Hawaii vacation rentals. These are the types of websites that you will want to visit. They make finding, examining, and comparing Maui villas an easy process.

Once you have found a travel website, namely one that specializes in Hawaiian vacations, you will want to start examining Maui vacation villas. Depending on the website you visit, you should be able to browse through all available rentals, as well as perform a search. Even though your first impulse may be to perform a search of Maui villas, you may find the most options browsing instead. Of course, if you are looking for something in particular or something that may be considered unique, such as Maui villas that permit smoking or one in a particular part of Maui, a search may be best.

One of the first things that you will want to do, when looking at Maui villas, is examine location. If you have yet to decide which area of Maui you want to visit, location may not be as big of a concern of yours. In addition to where you would like to stay in Maui and where the villas you find are located, you will also want to examine beach access. It is common to find beachfront Maui villas available for rent. You should also be able to find Maui villas that at least provide you with an ocean view.

Next, you will want to examine size. As previously stated, Maui villas come in a number of different sizes. Although villas are typically defined as large, luxurious homes, you may find Maui villas with a few as one bedroom to as many as ten or more. It is important to remember that Maui villa prices are often based on a number of different factors, including size. The smaller the villa, the more affordable its rental fees will likely be.

Perhaps, the most important part of booking a Maui villa involves examining all information given to you. This includes pictures and descriptions. To ensure that you choose the Maui vacation villa of your dreams, you will want to refrain from making reservations without first seeing pictures. In addition to just looking at Maui villa pictures, you will want to thoroughly examine them. Can you see yourself in the villa in question? If so, continue reading all descriptions. Make sure the villa in question has all of the features that you need, such as a fully furnished kitchen or a laundry room. Some Maui villas come equipped with staff members, such as chefs and housecleaners.

Once you have found the Maui villas that you want to rent, it is important that you properly follow all directions. Making vacation reservations online is nice, but it does leave room for error. That is why it is important that you double-check your reservation dates to ensure that they are accurate. Keep all verification emails and messages that you receive. As a reminder, it is important that you make your Maui villa reservations well in advance of your trip. This will help to ensure that your first choice villa rental is available for your intended travel dates.

Maui Top Ten Tips

Shannon Jennewein asked:

1) Sunscreen is a must, regardless of the weather. Even if it is cloudy or overcast the sun in Hawaii can be merciless so wear sunscreen whenever you plan to be outdoors for more than a few minutes.

2) If you are driving to Hana, make sure that you have a full tank of gas. There is only one gas station in Hana and gas is at least $1 more per gallon. It’s also a good idea to pack a cooler with water, juice or sodas and sandwiches. There are only a few places to buy food in Hana.

3) Seabands apply continuous pressure on a point on each wrist using a plastic stud and are very good for motion sickness (without drugs or side effects), plus they are reusable and can be worn in the water. They are easy to take along with you on your daily trips.

4) Leave your valuables in your safe in your room. Do not leave valuables in your car if the vehicle will be unattended, especially in remote locations or on the beach, while you are enjoying the warm tropical water.

5) If you drive to the summit of Haleakala, make sure to put your car in low gear when you drive back down the volcano, so that you don’t burn out the brakes on your vehicle.

6) We recommend that you bring a light jacket or sweater if you are planning to attend any of the island shows or a luau. The indoor theatres will be air conditioned and some may be chilly. Many of the luaus are close to the oceanfront and the air can be cool after the sun goes down.

7) Lahaina is more fun to visit in the evening. During the day it can be very hot with little air movement on Front St. because of the narrow streets. All of the shops and restaurants are open late into the evening.

8) Wear darker colored tops when taking a helicopter or “flight-seeing” tour. You’ll be able to take better photographs with less reflection through the windows of the aircraft.

9) When playing in the ocean, be careful of the surf. Do not turn your back on the water, rogue waves can suddenly appear and create dangerous shore breaks.

10) If you take any boat trips for snorkeling, sailing or whale watching make sure to bring a towel with you because the boats do not provide towels. Sunscreen, sunglasses, camera / film, hats / caps, and a light cover-up are also recommended.
