I am visiting West Maui this summer for the first time. I keep hearing that there are places people can rent out snorkeling gear, and drive themselves to an area safe for snorkeling and sometimes people can get to the same areas those tour boats take paying customers to. Is there anyway to snorkel in Maui for free or cheap without having to pay for an expensive boat tour to take you out?

Question on Volcano Tours on Hawaii?

We will be visiting Hawaii in Oct and staying on Oahu, Lanai and Maui. However, my 6 year old son is dying to see the volcano so I’m thinking of flying over to TBI for a day. I’ve been looking into the tours and because he is so young many of the sites recommend not doing a walking tour but an air tour. Wanted to see if anyone out there has been to Volcanos National Park and agrees or disagrees. Second, if we do have to take an air tour, is there much difference between the planes and the helicopters? Thanks!

How did you like YOUR helicopter tour DVD? Is anybody very satisfied with their DVD?

We took Mauiscape around maui- they had a good safety record, so we are just happy to have survived. We really liked the tour got to see the most beautiful scenes on the island of Maui- however, we were dissatisfied with the high price charged for the poor quality DVD taken during our tour. They charged $40, so we figured it would be good quality. The back of the package notes that no refunds will be given for the unedited souvenir, due to poor quality. (This is why they should probably charge $10 at most!) It looks like they used one webcam, the color is bad & it is very pixely! I understand it is a souvenir, & I am happy we have something, plus our own video camera footage, but $40 created a much higher expectation than what we got.

I know it can’t possibly compare to our edited wedding video style DVD, or the travel channel, but I could start charging customers for the footage I alone captured on my digital camera!
Just curious…Is anyone was very satisfied with their DVD?
Anyone have any helicopter experiences and bought the DVD?
